T-Shirts on the Way! Book Production Should Wrap by the End of the Month

Hey, friends... hope you're hanging in there! Just a few quick updates...

First, if you ordered T-Shirts from the SINK: City of Killers campaign, those should be arriving at your doors within the next week or two. These orders ship separately from the books... so as long as you've completed your survey, your shirt is on the way. 

Forgot to order a shirt? You can place a new order or still add to your order on Backerkit. 

New Books in Production! 

We've heard from the factory that our books are in production, and should be competed by the end of the month.  It'll then be roughly another month or so for the books to transfer from overseas to our warehouse, but we're still on track for early summer fulfillment. 

All of the tariff stuff that's been in the news has definitely been concerning. Some of the high-end, premium hardcovers and specialty printing that ComixTribe is known for can really only be done working with overseas factories, most of which are in China.  Fingers crossed, the exceptions in place for printed material on these escalating tariffs (see this Bleeding Cool article) stay in place, otherwise, we'd be facing a bill more than double what we'd budgeted for.  Not fun! 

We're up to 90% survey complete AND our digital files have been released... so the time to get those surveys in is NOW if you're one of the 36 who still have to get yours in.

Great news, SINK fans! This morning, we've released the digital rewards for SINK: City of Killers! 

We know you've been patiently waiting for this one, and we are thrilled to put it in your hands!

We're currently sitting at 84% survey complete! 

Remember, you won't be able to grab your digital rewards until you complete the survey, so please jump on in right here if you haven't filled it out yet! 

PRINTING ORDER PLACED! UNFORTUNATELY, WE DIDN'T DODGE THE TARIFFS...

In addition to crossing digital rewards off the to-do list, we also were able to finalize and place our final print order. Alas, the timing on funding coming through, hitting accounts, and being transferred did not happen before those ridiculous tariffs were announced. As a result, our print bill jumped significantly. Not fun. 

Of course, this is why Kickstarter campaigns over-funding is so important... more funding equals more margin and a greater ability to adapt to market changes and sudden price hikes and the like. 

Know that as a publisher, we always run through a quotation process where we try to seek out the best possible pricing from a variety of global vendors. Whenever we can, we try to produce domestically, but there are some products and production run sizes where there is no choice but to go overseas.  I do not anticipate these tariffs fundamentally changing the "where to print" calculus for us much... all I expect it will do is increase the costs of production. 

We're just going to keep focusing on controlling what's in our control, and that's making the best damn comics for you all that we can.

We really appreciate that most of you have already completed your Backerkit surveys... honestly, now more than ever, with specter of crazy tariffs looming and all of our vendors scrambling to adjust up their pricing (not fun), the faster we get our order numbers on everything locked, the better.

As promised, we've just sent out the SINK: City of Killers Shipping Surveys, Powered by Backerkit, to all backers this morning.  So, those survey links should be sitting in your inbox now if you haven't got them already!

Note: If you ordered T-shirts, we'll be locking your orders shortly after they are submitted so we can start shipping those out soon. 

For everyone else, we are currently planning on locking in orders on 5/1, and any add-ons made on Backerkit with credit cards will be charged then. (Note: If you choose to pay for add-ons or shipping through Paypal, those charges will be charged immediately, because that's how Paypal does things.)

P.S. Because this is the biggest SINK book yet and we need it to be perfect for all of you, I opted to get proofs made of the new Hardcover and Softcover trades before greenlighting the full production run. Those books arrived just the other day and they came out awesome. We really think you're going to be completely thrilled with this new collection.

Hey, friends! Hope all is well. A few updates for you... 

 Kickstarter has done it's thing and collected 97.3% of the pledges, giving us the funds we need to make this project happen. 

We're planning on sending out our SHIPPING SURVEYS early on Wednesday, 4/2/25, through Backerkit. Our survey is designed to collect your shipping information and for you to confirm any add-ons you may have pledged for during the SINK campaign. 

And for INTERNATIONAL BACKERS, who were not charged anything for shipping during the Kickstarter campaign, the survey will also be where you'll be able to pay for shipping using our TOTAL ORDER WEIGHT shipping. (Remember, US shipping was and still is free.)

ADD-ON EXTRAS, PLEDGE UPGRADES & DROPPED PLEDGE RECOVERY

Any Kickstarter add-ons or special perks will be reflected in your order on Backerkit. And even if you didn't select any add-ons during the Kickstarter campaign, you'll be able to upgrade your pledge to a higher level or choose some ADD-ON EXTRAs when you fill out your survey as well!

Most backers will receive the SINK: CITY OF KILLERS Kickstarter Survey, powered by Backerkit, on the morning of Wednesday, 4/2.  However, about 5% of backers will receive their survey sooner, likely on Monday, as we conduct our "SMOKE TEST" to make sure the survey is working as expected before we send out to the full backer list. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

Unfortunately, we were sad to see that 10 backers' pledges were dropped as Kickstarter was unable to resolve their credit card charge issues...

However, those backers WILL be able to fix this through the Backerkit Survey.

Also, if you made a mistake in your pledge and selected the wrong reward, you will be able to correct it when the survey comes, as well as provide us with additional info so we can fulfill your pledge!
